2023 VINTAGE

Hospices de Beaune Vintage 2023: quality first!

Each year presents unique conditions, and we at Aether Wines & Spirits meticulously analyze these to offer the best recommendations for Hospice purchases. As the leading buyer in Singapore at the Hospices de Beaune for over a decade, our insights are crucial.

We highly value Ludivine Griveau's analysis of the vintages, as she provides detailed assessments of both white and red wines shortly after the harvest. Here are our impressions from the tastings, shared during an insightful exchange with Ludivine Griveau and our technical team.

Our recommended Barrel for 2023
THE WHITE WINES

Amplitude,
Balance,
Expressivity.

Despite the opulent nature of the 2023 vintage, we deeply appreciate the freshness in all the wines we've tasted. This balance reflects well-considered decisions in controlling yields, choosing optimal harvest dates, and managing vinification.

The upcoming aging process will focus on enhancing this balance of freshness and intensity while preserving the unique character of each terroir. We will carefully select barrel characteristics—origin, toasting, grain, and age—to best suit each wine.

Given the challenges posed by global warming, this rigorous approach ensures that these great Burgundy wines maintain their inimitable style, with the 2023 white wines deserving particular attention.

The Red Wines

Susbstance,
Precision,
Length.

We greatly appreciated Ludivine Griveau and her team's exceptional work in this challenging vintage. They expertly managed yields, selecting only the best grapes to preserve the purity and expression of each vineyard. The result is highly appealing red wines, already showing fresh aromas and careful extraction.

With these solid qualitative foundations, we are well-positioned to mature these wines to their full potential. By purchasing multiple barrels, we can enhance complexity and subtlety in these great Burgundy wines, which we proudly refer to as “great wines for a great cause.”

For both red and white wines, we will continue to prioritize freshness and refine tannins, maintaining the vibrant fruit of this vintage. Additionally, all wines will be aged following organic viticulture standards, marking a significant step in sustainability for the Domaine des Hospices.
